Listed success for Secret Hideaway
York is a very special place. The people, the facilities, the racing - it’s pure class. We love having runners there, and it’s one of the finest places in the country to train a Winner.
We assembled a team of 7 runners across the 3 days of the Dante Festival, but it was Secret Hideaway who got one on the board on day 3, winning the Listed Clipper EBF Margate Fillies Stakes and in fine style too under PJ McDonald for Owners Mr & Mrs Shanahan.
A lovely rangey filly who we’ve always thought a lot of. We knew the track would improve her a lot first time out at Ripon, and she is still a narrow filly who will improve again with time. What she lacks in size, she makes up for in heart. We wish they were all as honest and straightforward as her!
She’ll get 6 furlongs and goes well on the ground - the Royal Ascot dream is alive!
She’s a pleasure to train and many congratulations to Owners Mr & Mrs Shanahan, as well as my team at home.
Earlier in the week, Maghlaak ran a screamer on the first day, only going down a neck under Conor Orr for Owner Jimmy Fyffe. And neither Romieu or Going Commando were disgraced on the second day for Nick Bradley Racing and Keatley Owners Group, Hart & O'Neill.
It’s been a wonderful few days with friends old and new, thank you to my team and owners for their continued support - I am a very proud trainer.
It was agonising watching our star girl Surrey Bell in last week’s Chester Plate. She lead everywhere apart from the line for the Keatley Owners Group - but we’re confident another win is only around the corner and it’s brilliant to have a mare as versatile as her. She’ll continue to be great fun for Owners through the Summer, and there are shares available!
It continues to be a very busy time of year, with Summer jumpers on the go, flat horses in full swing and regular sales to attend and find new stock.
Adrian will be at Goffs next week for the stores & horses in training sale - should anyone wish to get involved please do give him a call 07768 882658.
